In Luxembourg, Saint Nicholas — or Niklosdag — is a celebration close to children’s hearts. Every December 6, the Kleeschen visits the youngest to reward well-behaved kids with sweets and gifts, while his faithful companion, the Housecker, reminds the others to try a little harder.
In schools, traditional songs fill the air, eyes sparkle with excitement, and the atmosphere is festive. A true symbol of sharing and generosity, this day marks the beginning of the winter celebrations and continues to bring together young and old around a cherished tradition.
A festive menu in our canteens
At Restopolis, we are committed to keeping this magic alive. That’s why, on December 5, we’re offering our guests a festive meal specially created for the occasion, combining delight, diversity, and indulgence. On the menu:
Starter
Beef consommé à la royale
or
Gravlax with Senap sauce
Main Courses to Choose From
Vegetarian: Vol-au-vent with quorn, carrots, mushrooms, and parsley
Vegan: Potato rösti with smoked tofu, garlic mushrooms, and parsley
Non-vegetarian: Vol-au-vent (puff pastry filled with creamy chicken and mushrooms)
Desert
Two-chocolate mousse, to end on a sweet and comforting note.
A gift for every guest
Because no Saint Nicholas celebration would be complete without a sweet surprise, each person choosing a “main dish” menu will receive a Fairtrade chocolate Saint Nicholas. A small, delicious, and fair gesture to celebrate the generosity of the season together.
